SmartMrk collects information you provide when creating an account, setting up tag profiles, and using our services. This includes your name, email address, and any profile data you add to your tags. We also collect scan data (approximate location, time, device type) when someone scans or taps your SmartMrk tag.
We use your information to: provide and maintain our services, notify you when your tags are scanned, facilitate communication between tag owners and finders, process recovery cases and reward payments, improve our platform, and send you service-related notifications.
Your tag profile information is displayed when someone scans your tag — you control exactly what is visible. During recovery cases, personal information is only shared between parties when explicitly authorized. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and role-based access controls. PIN-protected profile sections use constant-time comparison to prevent timing attacks.
When using our Lost & Found recovery system, finder identities are protected by default. Personal details are only revealed when a finder explicitly chooses to share them. All communications are routed through SmartMrk's secure messaging system. Recovery case data is retained for dispute resolution and compliance purposes.
